Tip 42: DDH 2

If clinical examination suggests congenital dislocation of the hip, then referral should be made immediately to an orthopaedic specialist.

Regardless of clinical examination findings, the following should be referred for hip USS:

– family history: 1st degree relative with hip problem in early life needing treatment with harness or operation.

– breech presentation: at birth or at any time >36/40.
