Hypospadias can be described as glandular, coronal, midshaft or perineal.
In a referral letter it is important to describe this location, the presence or absence of chordee (curvature, which may be latent and only observable during erection), urinary stream and presence of testes. All parents should be told not to have their son circumcised, as the foreskin is used for future repair.
