Tip 53: breast-feeding

By 8 months of age, 1% of infants are hospitalised for diarrhoea and 3% for lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI).

With adjustment for confounders, an estimated 50% of hospitalisations with diarrhoea and 25% of hospitalisations for LRTI could have been prevented by exclusive breast-feeding.
