Tip 63: neonatal seizures

Neonatal seizures can be the presentation of a variety of CNS disorders. Worldwide, studies have shown that around 40% are associated with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, with smaller percentages due to hypoglycaemia (3–7%), hypocalcaemia (2–9%), and CNS infections (6–10%). Other causes (e.g. metabolic, structural) are rare.
