Tip 93: neonatal death

“Four out of five neonatal deaths occur after withdrawing or withholding life-sustaining treatment. The life span of these infants may extend from minutes to weeks, months or years. Throughout this period, care must be tailored to individual needs of the infant and family. When a consensus cannot be reached there is a role for the ethics committee.”
